Use website forwarding to redirect one or more domain name to an existing Website. Website forwarding is also known as:
- domain forwarding
- URL forwarding
- website cloaking
- website masking
There are two methods that you can use.
Website Forwarding
Website forwarding is as simple as it sounds. You can redirect any of your domains to any website address, whether it is your own website or not.
Here's how it works: When your domain name has forwarding setup any visitor who types in that name will be redirected to the existing site you specify.
Website Cloaking
Website or domain name cloaking lets you protect the true address of the website site as the customers navigates around.
Here's how it works: You can use an existing, unused domain name or purchase a new domain. For example we will use the domain name product1.co.nz which does not have it's own website.
We will configure our servers to use this address to display the content of another web site for example mycompany.co.nz.
When your visitors type in www product1.co.nz they see the product1.co.nz in the internet browser address bar and display content from the mycompany.co.nz web site.
TIP: Domain forward is helpful if the URL if your existing Website is long or hard to remember, or if you want to drive traffic directly to your products with multiple entry points to your existing Website.
